ALBION captain Lewis Dunk wants the side to "come back fighting" after their defeat to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Goals from Matty Cash and Ollie Watkins were enough for the visitors to see off Graham Potter's side.

Albion will now travel north to take on an improving Newcastle side that are unbeaten in their last seven Premier League matches.

Dunk believes in the quality of the team and will be preparing for the game.

He told BBC Sussex: "We know what we can do in this squad and the ability and character we have in the dressing room.

"We showed that here that even when we are 2-0 down and still fighting until the end to get back into it.

"We are going to go away now and work on our game plan for Newcastle and come back fighting."

Dunk has struggled for consistent game time this season due to injury and suspension curtailing his time on the pitch, but he has admitted he wants to get back to his form of old.

He said: "Obviously, I don't want to be sat on the sideline. With the injury this season it has been a bit stop-start.

"Hopefully, I can stay in the team now and get a good run of form going and get back to where I was.

"It [bandaging] is just a precaution and I am absolutely fine, I am training every day and feel good and back to where I was.

"It is just there, and maybe it just looks worse than it is."

Despite the defeat, Dunk does not think the performance against Aston Villa was a poor one, but admits he does not know what is going wrong at the moment.

"Disappointed, and I thought performed quite well. It was a much better performance than last week.

"We had to bounce back from it, so we are disappointed to lose, I think it was their first shot and probably the first attack on goal, and it is difficult to come back in the Premier League, and the second goal killed us off in the end.

"We had a couple of half chances but didn't create any clear ones until after we went 1-0 down, we had a good chance just after that and if they don't go in it is hard to claw back.

"I don't think we are far off. I think we are performing well, it would be easy if we knew what was going wrong.

"Obviously bitterly disappointed at the moment, but we have a big game coming up next weekend against Newcastle, and we are going to go away now and make sure we clear our heads and get ready for that."
