Albion are selling striker Alex Revell to Southend and replacing him with Aldershot's Jonny Dixon.

Revell will complete a £150,000 move to Southend on Wednesday subject to medical clearance.

He was ruled out of the Seagulls' 1-0 defeat at Northampton by a groin injury.

Southend were interested in Revell during the previous transfer window in August.

Albion held them off at that stage but they are prepared to let the former Cambridge United forward go now, with Dixon on his way to Withdean.

The 24-year-old completes a £55,000 move from Aldershot on Wednesday, subject to a medical, and will sign a two-and-a-half year contract.

Spanish-born Dixon had League experience with Wycombe Wanderers and was also on loan to Crawley.

He has scored eight goals for Aldershot this season, seven in the Conference and one in the FA Cup, after joining them from Wycombe for £6,000 a year ago.

Albion boss Dean Wilkins said: "He is an exciting prospect and has an excellent record at Conference level."

The Seagulls have been tracking Dixon for some time. Chairman Dick Knight said: "He will give us another attacking dimension."

Albion are making a healthy profit on Revell, having signed him from Braintree for £8,000 two summers ago.

Meanwhile, the Seagulls could renew their interest in Chesterfield captain and midfielder Peter Leven before the transfer window closes on Thursday, especially if unsettled skipper Dean Hammond is sold.

They have already had a bid, believed to be about £50,000, turned down by the League Two club.
