Lorent Tolaj has been told he will have benefited from a tough loan stint.
Cambridge boss Mark Bonner revealed Tolaj would finish the season back with Albion under-23s after struggling for game time with the League One outfit.
Bonner said: “It’s tough for him, because he hasn’t had a huge amount of opportunities since he’s been here.
“But I’m sure he’ll have learned from that experience and, to be fair to him probably, it’s important that he’s able to finish the season with some sessions and some games, rather than it drift into the summer and not be too involved with us.
“Brighton have been great.
“He goes back there to finish his season so that he can have a few games in their team at the end.”
Tolaj, a powerfully built centre-forward with age group caps for Switzerland, made just five appearances off the bench for Cambridge having impressed with Albion under-23s in the first half of the season.
He has made 18 Premier League 2 appearances so far this term, scoring six times.
Albion under-23s face Chelsea at the Amex on Monday.
