We asked these Albion fans for their thoughts on the 2-2 draw with Southampton.

And we discussed what comes next for two players who found the net on Sunday – and are heading out of contract.

What were your thoughts on Albion’s performance versus Southampton?

James Heasman: For 40 minutes I felt we were relatively comfortable against a team that looked low on confidence. However, throughout the game we seemed to be very narrow without the ball, and some of the players positionally, looked like they lacked any sort of discipline, which resulted in Southampton having a lot of time on the ball. It was a very disappointing last 50 minutes.

Tim Ayling: A real game of two halves. Some sublime play, some basic errors. Our defence looked unusually shaky, which cost us the two points. A special mention for some of the worst officiating I’ve seen this season.

Who was your pick of the Albion players?

James Heasman: Difficult, as I felt the performance was quite ordinary, Welbeck did okay, as did Trossard and to a lesser extent Mac Allister. I’d probably give it to Joel Veltman, who rarely gives a poor performance.

Tim Ayling: Welbeck was a real handful and deservedly took man of the match but both Veltman and Mac Allister ran him close in my book.

Would you like to see Welbeck and Pascal Gross remain at the club next season?

James Heasman: Tough question, as it depends who we bring in. Welbeck has played quite well recently and offers a different option, plus is a good mentor for younger players. However, he should not be considered the long-term solution and if we are to progress, we need to upgrade in this area. Gross remains a good player at this level, though is beginning to lose a step pace wise. Additionally, the midfield is quite a competitive area for Brighton, so as much as I’d like Pascal to stay, I don’t think he will.

Tim Ayling: They clearly both have a role to play. I do think Gross’s lack of pace is beginning to show, but you can’t argue with his stats. He was desperately unlucky with the offside call.
