Marc Cucurella has scooped a double as Albion player of the season.

The wing-back signed from Getafe earlier this season was revealed as winner of the fans’ vote to climax a gala occasion at the Amex.

He also won the players’ player of the year award.

The prizes followed his first Albion goal, at home to Manchester United, which in turn capped a superb debut season in the Premier League.

Cucurella cried tears of joy after firing his shot past David De Gea on Saturday.

He dedicated the goal to his family and also thanked Spanish-speaking Albion staff members for helping him settle.

Cucurella said: “Bruno has helped me a lot – also Robert (Sanchez), Alexis (Mac Allister).

“We have managed to have a good season.

“We have two games left and we will try to win them.”

Goalkeeper Megan Walsh, whose performances this term earned her international selection by the Republic of Ireland, scooped the same fans’ and players’ award double among the club’s WSL squad.

Young player of the year prizes went to Jeremy Sarmiento and Maya Le Tissier.

Enock Mwepu’s long-range stunner at Anfield was voted men’s goal of the year, just ahead of Neal Maupay’s late leveller at Crystal Palace.

Mwepu’s half-volley to secure the points at Arsenal completed the top three.

Maisie Symonds won women’s goal of the season for her superb free-kick to secure a last-gasp win over Leicester City at the Amex.
