Graham Potter said Albion did themselves proud in the cauldron of Elland Road.

But they had a chance to add to Leeds United’s relegation worries.

Danny Welbeck scored in a 1-1 draw and had a great opportunity to double the lead before Pascal Struijk levelled in added time.

Albion boss Potter said: “I thought in the first half we were really strong.

“Attacked well, had some good opportunities.

“Maybe we could have added the second which I thought we needed, to be fair.

“At half-time I was really satisfied with the performance.

“It’s so difficult to control things completely here because of the crowd and the environment and the situation.

"I think the second half was better for Leeds than for us and they had some opportunities so I can’t say the point wasn’t fair.

“Our keeper makes a couple of saves.

“Having said that, Danny has a good chance at 1-0 late that kills the game off.

“We tried our best. I think people were talking before the game about whether we had anything to play for.

“You could see a really spirited, committed performance to maintain the integrity of the competition, which is really important.”

Albion end their season at home to West Ham on Sunday.
