Robert Sanchez has revealed why he is a wiser goalkeeper after his first season in front of Premier League crowds.

The Albion No.1 emerged with high marks after a testing afternoon against Leeds United at raucous Elland Road.

He aims for a 12th clean sheet of the season when West Ham head to the Amex on Sunday.

Sanchez is completing his first full Prem campaign as the Seagulls’ first choice and continues to make huge strides.

He has enormous natural talent but told the Argus: “Game-understanding has been the area I have improved the most.

“Understanding different teams, the way they play, decision-making, when to come out, when not to.

“When to be ready for the save, when to help the team higher up on the pitch.

“I think that is where I have improved the most.”

Sanchez is in a rich vein of form having outshone fellow Spain international David De Gea when Manchester United visited the Amex recently.

He revealed the two keepers did not have time for a catch-up afterwards.

Sanchez said: “Obviously he was a bit disappointed about the game himself.

“We didn’t speak much after the game. We still need to catch up with a call.”
