ALBION have been named among the list of clubs interested in signing Montpellier star Stephy Mavididi.

The 24-year-old enjoyed a fruitful season for the 2012 Ligue 1 champions. Mavididi made 30 appearances in the league, scoring eight goals and assisting three more.

Mavididi is a left-sided player by trade, able to play as a left-winger, but also capable of leading the line as a central striker.

The Englishman came has been to a lot of clubs in his so far short career, starting as a youth player at Southend and Arsenal. At the Gunners is where he started to get some first-team action through loan moves to Preston North End and Charlton.

After eight years with Arsenal, in August 2018, Mavididi signed for Italian club Juventus. The winger would spend a season with the club’s under-23s and a half-season with the first-team, making one appearance in Serie A at the age of 20.

He would leave Juventus for on-loan for French Dijon. It was here impressed so much that Montpellier signed him in a deal worth €6.3million.

Now, transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has listed five clubs keen on signing the exciting attacker on social media and even suggested that approaches to the player’s agent have been made.

He said: “Stephy Mavididi could leave Montpellier this summer. Many clubs have approached his agents, including West Ham, Brighton, Southampton, Everton and OM. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 #transfers

“Deal still at early stages, but there are good chances for Mavididi to make his move in the coming weeks.”

Any deal for Mavididi is still believed to be in the “early stages”, but Montpellier would be tempted to selling their English talent to raise funds due to the ongoing financial difficulties that clubs in France are currently going through.

If Albion are in fact interested in the player, then they will have to move quick with West Ham, Southampton, Everton and Olympique Marseille all enquiring about the player.
