Yves Bissouma has revealed he is set for a check-up after apparently suffering damage to his left ankle.

The Albion midfielder posted a photo of himself on social media wearing a protective casing – but still smiling and with a thumbs up.

Bissouma went off at half-time of Mali’s game away to South Sudan with his side 1-0 down.

They went on to win 3-1 despite being reduced to ten men.

In his post, he appeared to suggest the injury was not serious.

He wrote there was “more fear than harm” and thanked Mali fans for their support.

He said: “It was a pleasure and pride for me to represent my national team.”

Bissouma starred when Mali beat Congo 4-0 on Saturday as they set the early pace in their qualifying group for next year’s AFCON finals.

He signed off his post: "Now for a bit of rest."
