Ravi Bopara has slammed Sussex's cave-in as one of the worst performances he has ever seen.
Sharks lost eight wickets for 23 runs to throw away two precious Vitality Blast points against Gloucestershire.
They would have overhauled their visitors in the race for a qualification place had they reached a target of 29 from the last 38 balls with eight wickets in hand.
But the departures of Fynn Hudson-Prentice (18) and Tom Alsop (82), who had shared a stand of 69, led to a monumental collapse as batsmen repeatedly went for big hits.
Archie Lenham, who attempted a more mature approach, was seven not out at the end.
Sussex skipper Bopara said: "I have played more than 400 games in T20 cricket and seen a lot of things so nothing really surprises me.

"But I thought that was one of the worst performances I have ever seen.
"I'm not sure what happened, I can't get my head around it.
"Moments like that can break teams but I won't let that happen.
"We've still got half the tournament to play and it's important that we're back on it for those remaining six games."
