Albion’s fixtures are out and there are plenty of talking points.

It all starts with a trip to Old Trafford and ends at Villa Park with some big tests in between.

Here a few things which catch the eye...

RUNS TO MAINTAIN – AND BREAK – IN EARLY WEEKS

Albion will hope to end one run and keep three more going in August.

The Seagulls have never won at Manchester United, where they go for the first fixture. So that is one to break.

Runs to maintain? Well, they have won their first away fixture in all three seasons under Graham Potter – at Watford, Newcastle and Burnley.

Their second away trip will see them hope to maintain their unbeaten Prem record against West Ham, which currently stands at ten games.

David Moyes appears particularly irked by that and will look to put it right  soon after the currently listed date of August 20 (the Hammers play a Europa League tie on August 18 so the Prem game will be pushed back).

The Seagulls also go to Fulham (live on BT Sport)  in the opening month for a midweek game.

Remember they remained unbeaten in the capital last season so there is one to keep going.

OFF TO A FLYER AT HOME?

Home form was a talking point last season - and the season before, and the one before that.

But Albion ended last term with two draws and two great wins.

They look to maintain that with early-season visits from Newcastle and Leeds.

Both those fixtures ended as draws last season - but draws which led to unhappy reactions from disgruntled home fans.

Albion have won two and drawn three of their five Prem games at home to Newcastle.

WHEN’S PALACE?

Albion’s game at home to Crystal Palace is listed for September 17, although these fixtures are often shifted.

What we know for certain is it will be the last game before an international break.

That appears to ensure it won't be a Monday night game. And we know Albion don't really like Mondays!

So let’s see what sort of mood the Seagulls and Eagles leave their fans in for the following fallow fortnight or so.

Selhurst Park awaits on or about February 11.

TOUGH OCTOBER

(You will notice there is no question mark on this sub-heading - it IS tough, no two ways about it).

Albion return from an international break in late September and are straight in at the deep end.

They open October as they ended it last season, with a trip to Liverpool.

That is followed by a visit from Tottenham and any star midfielders they might possess.

October ends with games away to Manchester City and at home to Chelsea.

So that’s all of last season’s top four within the month.

FESTIVE FUN?

Boxing Day takes on extra significance this season as it also marks the return to action after the World Cup.

Albion go to Southampton (live on Amazon Prime) and then have what is down as a New Year’s Eve game at home to Arsenal.

BRIGHTON'S PREMIER LEAGUE FIXTURES 2022-23

Boxing Day fixtures will actually be played on December 26 and 27 with the following matchweek across December 29-31. The New Year match round will be played on January 2-5, which takes us to…..

ACTION REPLAY?

One of Albion’s landmark results last term was their first ever win at Goodison Park, when Alexis Mac Allister scored two on January 2, 2022.

The initial fixtures have them down to visit Everton’s famous old home on January 2 again so can anyone repeat Mac’s Merseyside double strike?

HOW DOES IT END?

With a repeat of the 2016-17 Championship promotion season and a final game at Villa Park.

It is not exactly a happy hunting ground for the Seagulls.

The season ends on Sunday, May 28, with all games starting at 4pm.

The last home game is versus Southampton.

Albion fans will hope to be celebrating their first home win over the Saints in the Prem era as they applaud the players and their close families on the lap of appreciation after that match.
