Yves Bissouma has been told he made a tough but correct call to chase his Champions League dream.

The Albion midfielder’s big move to Tottenham was confirmed on Friday afternoon.

Gaetan Bong, the man he called his “big brother” in the Albion changing room, was among the first people he contacted after it all went through.

Bong believes Bissouma put thoughts of a move on hold last summer because he loved life with the Seagulls.

In an in-depth interview available today in print, and online to subscribers (click HERE), the left-back tells The Argus: “You could see after games how he enjoyed himself with the fans. They were singing his name and he loved that.

“He’s sensitive. The more love you give him, the more you get from him. In Brighton, he could find that. It was like family.

“Last year he stayed because he loved the club but he has too much quality to not try something else.

“Not too much quality for the club, no, but too much quality to not try to play Champions League, to not try to look to be at the best level."
