Hearts want to take Alex Cochrane back to Tynecastle on a permanent deal.
The Albion defender impressed on loan last season as Hearts reached the cup final.
The Scotsman report the club are working to finalise a deal to take him back to Edinburgh and are prepared to pay a six-figure fee.
Abion activated an option to extend Cochrane’s contract at the end of last season.
The 22-year-old plays in similar roles to Marc Cucurella, who is wanted by Manchester City.
But Hearts would appear to offer him a far better chance of regular first team football with the added attraction of European action.
There is also thought to be Championship interest in Cochrane’s services.
