Tom Clark has been ruled out of Sussex’s return to Championship action.

The all-rounder suffered a hamstring injury playing for the 2nd XI against Essex last week.

Clark skippered the side and scored a century as they shared an exciting draw in Billericay.

But the quest to get him time in the middle before Derbyshire’s visit to Hove appears to have backfired.

He misses the first team contest which starts today (11am).

George Garton is rested after featuring in recent T20 games and is continuing to recover from long Covid.

The injured Jack Carson, Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer are all unavailable as is Cheteshwar Pujara, who is with the India squad.

Dan Ibrahim, who took a five-for at Billericay as Sussex went within one wicket of a win, is in the squad.
