Pascal Gross is “excited” to see whether Albion's new striker can boost their scoring power.

The Seagulls’ leading creator of Premier League goals admits they should be less forgiving in the danger area.

Gross’s fellow German, Deniz Undav, could help them in that after arriving from Union St Gilloise.

In an initial interview released by the club, Undav recognised goalscoring in the Prem would be a bigger challenge than in the Jupiler League.

But he looks forward to giving it a go.

Gross said: “We defend from the front and, as a team, we’re ready to work backwards in a full sprint.

“We would like to see more goals, but we also create good chances - but we have to use them better.”

Undav scored 26 goals for USG last season and Gross said: “I’m excited for him.

“I saw that he scored a lot of goals in Belgium and is very good at finishing so why not?”

Speaking to brightonandhovealbion.com, Undav revealed he hopes to be the goal-getter Albion supporters crave.

He said: “I’ll try to give them the best Deniz I can possibly be.

“They want a goalscorer and I will try to give them that.

“I’m really confident but I don’t think I will score 26 goals.

“In the Belgian League it’s easier than the Premier League.

“I won’t say a number now.”

He joked: “I just try to score maybe not 26 but a little bit less.”
