Sam Packham has been told he will benefit from a challenging stint in top-flight senior football.

The 20-year-old Albion full-back has secured a one-year contract extension as he links up again with Andrew Crofts' under-21s squad.

He recently completed a loan spell at top-flight Irish outfit Bohemians, where he started five games but was hindered by a calf injury.

Crofts said: “It was great for Sam to be able to test himself in a different environment, as well as a different country.

“That will have given him a real opportunity to see what’s required to make the step up to a men’s first team and it was good to see him make a few appearances for Bohemians.”

Matt Everitt and Cameron Peupion have also secured new deals with the latter now committed until June, 2024.

Everitt, who has secured an extra year, has been challenged to show what he can offer.

Crofts said: “Last season was a really difficult one for Matt with injury, so he didn’t get a decent opportunity to show what he can do at our level.

“We’re hopeful that his injuries are behind him now and he can focus fully on his football.”
