Jeremy Sarmiento has revealed how he loves the different roles he is given by Albion.

The Ecuador international loves the chance to get in off the wing and create danger from a central area.

Sarmiento is back in pre-season training after hamstring issues.

He could enjoy some playing time when Union St-Gilloise visit Lancing for a friendly behind closed doors today (6pm).

Sarmiento’s season was ended early when he limped out of an under-23s game against Chelsea in the latter weeks of the campaign.

That followed a much longer lay-off resulting from a similar injury on his first Prem start, at West Ham on December 1.

But he came through carefully monitored playing time in three friendlies with Ecuador as they toured the USA.

The last of them saw him play the first 45 minutes against Cape Verde in Fort Lauderdale, his longest run-out for months.

Sarmiento has enjoyed his football with Albion.

But he says he has had to make a tactical switch along the way.

The former Benfica youngster told brightonandhovealbion.com: “I’m a very versatile player.

“I can play in the middle as well, not just on the wing, so for me it was perfect.

“I can rotate into the middle as an eight or a ten.

“That’s where the boss has given me opportunities to play.

“With players like Alexis (Mac Allister) and Moises (Caicedo), I really get on well with them.

“On the pitch it really makes it easier. I can link up with them.”
