Graham Potter believes his new teen signing can cope with the physical demands of the Premier League.

But he says a final decision on whether Julio Enciso goes out on loan has not been taken.

The Paraguay international made a good impression in his 45 minutes as Albion shared a goalless friendly with Royale Union St-Gilloise.

Asked whether Enciso, 18, could cope with the rigours of the Prem, head coach Potter said: “Physically, yes. He’s a little powerhouse, to be fair to him.

“He can run, he’s got the capacity, he’s tenacious but he is only young.

“So it’s about seeing how he adapts to a new continent, a new club, a new league.

“We have seen it before with Alexis (Mac Allister) and Moises (Caicedo).

“It’s not straightforward but we like what we see and he has made a really good first impression.”

Asked whether Enciso stays for the season or goes on loan, Potter said: “I don’t think we’ve decided anything.

“The first impression has been really positive.

“We will make the right decision based on him and what the needs of the group are and the squad. He is an option for us, that’s for sure.”

Potter has also been pleased with Jan Paul van Hecke, who played in the middle of a back three versus USG.

He said: “He’s a great character, good person, really impressed on and off the pitch.

“He fits in on what we are doing and it is just a case of him being with us for a couple of weeks and we will see how we go.”

Albion’s internationals join up with the squad as they head to Portugal this week.
