Chelsea are believed to be keen on signing Marc Cucurella.
They are reportedly set to move in after Manchester City saw a bid for the defender rejected.
They would do so fully aware Albion will not entertain offers below their own valuation of the player, which is at least £50 million.
Chelsea could offer defender Levi Colwill as part of any proposal.
The Argus were told recently Colwill was a player Albion were “aware of but nothing more at this stage”.
Cucurella missed Saturday’s friendly against Espanyol.
Albion boss Graham Potter reported the player had a minor calf issue and said the club were confident and relaxed in their position regarding his immediate future.
