Neal Maupay is believed to be at the top of Salernitana’s wanted list – as the striker’s immediate future remains in doubt.

The Serie A side are known to be interested in Maupay.

The Argus was told by a well-placed source last week the possibility of him moving on was “still ongoing” after he produced a busy performance when starting the Seagulls' friendly against Brentford.

Salernitana are drawing a blank with two other prime targets in attack, Andrea Pinamoti of Inter and Krzysztof Piatek at Hertha Berlin.

Now La Citta di Salerno have reported: “The No.1 objective is back to being Maupay.”

Albion would appear to be open to selling Maupay but in no particular rush to do so.

They added Deniz Undav to their attacking options this summer.

Pre-season fixtures have offered few clues as to who stands where in the pecking order behind Danny Welbeck.

The games have, however, underlined some similarities in the way Undav and Maupay operate.

Salernitana still need several signings this month, which will restrict their budget.

Their most recent friendly, with Adana Demirspor, was abandoned after a brawl which produced four red cards and involved all 22 players.
