MANCHESTER UNITED boss Erik ten Hag believes his side are ready for the start of the season.

The Red Devils will host Albion on Sunday at Old Trafford in the Premier League.

The new manager will be hopping his side can improve on their last campaign which was their worst on record in the division.

The club have had a mixed pre-season in terms of results and it came to an end at home as they drew 1-1 with La Liga side Rayo Vallecano.

When asked about the pre-season campaign in general, the manager said he was pleased with the period.

He said: "Overall, definitely. I think we [have had] a good pre-season.

"We make good progress. We are ready for the season. I know there is still room for improvement.

"We have to improve and that is also a process that continues during the season.

"But, for next week, it's about the result as well."

One thing that remains to be seen is what role superstar Cristiano Ronaldo will play in Ten Hag's team.

The Portuguese attacker is trying to force away a move from the club but has not been able to find a buyer.

He did play the first-half against Vallecano, but that remains his only action during pre-season.
