Graham Potter says Albion start the new season with the first goal of staying up.

But he adds there is room for further ambitions in 2022-23.

The Seagulls enter their sixth successive top-flight campaign – and the tenth in their history – having come a best-ever ninth last term.

Ahead of the opening game at Manchester United, head coach Potter said: “You compete to start with to stay in the Premier League.

“You should never lose sight of that and you should have enough respect and humility for the competition that that is your starting point.

“But always you have to have ambition and get points and see where that takes you.

“That is something to worry about in June or the end of May.”
