Graham Potter has revealed how his most senior players set the tone for his squad.
Danny Welbeck starred, Pascal Gross scored twice and Adam Lallana was a shrewd selection to start as the Seagulls beat Manchester United 2-1.
Potter has established a strong reputation for helping younger players develop.
But he said the actions of his more senior players can speak louder than words.
The Albion head coach said: “The environment is the key thing and the environment is a mix of the people that you have and those guys you mentioned are top professionals.
“They drive standards every day. If you put on a running session, for example, they would be at the front of it.
“They want to show how fit they are, how competitive they are and they gave everything.
"They are a great example for the young guys. As much as I can speak it is better to watch Adam Lallana, Danny Welbeck or Pascal Gross because they have been here and are top professionals."
