Adam Webster has revealed Albion were ready to face one of the world's greatest goal-getters.

He was delighted how they dealt with Manchester United both with and without Cristiano Ronaldo in the 2-1 win at Old Trafford.

The Portugal legend went on as a substitute early in the second half after a disrupted pre-season.

He lifted the crowd but could not help United salvage a point - with Webster blocking his only attempt at goal.

The Albion No.4 said: “We were pretty sure he wasn’t going to start but he was always going to come on at some point.

“When he did, in and around the box you have got to be so alive and try and stop their crosses and try and get some contact in the box because he is obviously one of the best goalscorers to ever do it.

“We knew we would have to be able to really concentrate and try and stop his threat."
