FORMER Albion defender Dan Burn is looking forward to seeing his old fans when he returns to the Amex this weekend.

The towering defender left Albion in January to join his boyhood club Newcastle and he was able to play a key role in helping the team avoid relegation and push up the Premier League table.

Burn has admitted that he did not get a chance for a goodbye with the Albion fans but is excited about the prospect of seeing everyone again.

He told Chronicle Live: "I'm looking forward to it. It'll be strange but I am looking forward to it as I did not get the chance to say goodbye to the fans properly.

"A lot of staff I also didn't get to see because it happened so quickly. It will be a tough game and we know we have only won one match so we need to kick on and put in another performance."

The 30-year-old believes he will always be indebted to the club for allowing him the chance to play at the highest level in English football.

Burn said: "Hugely (indebted). They took a chance to take me to the Premier League at the time. All the staff and the manager there, I wouldn't be where I am without them. So it will be nice to go back and see people."

The defender is prepared to be on the opposing side when he and his Newcastle teammates visit the Amex, but he knows it will be a tough game.

He said: "It's always tough at Brighton. They are very good and showed that last season and by winning at Man United last Sunday.

"We will prepare properly just like we did for Forest and I am sure we will have a game plan."
