Pascal Gross believes Albion are already showing the depth in the squad.

And it might have seen them open the season with six points rather then four.

Gross combined intelligently with debutant sub Koaru Mitoma in the frustrating 0-0 draw with Newcastle.

But he dragged a late chance wide after dazzling work by the Japan international.

Graham Potter has praised his sides attacking options and there appears every chance they will add to their squad soon.

Gross was not surprised by Mitoma’s performance and told The Argus: “He is fast, he is a good one-versus-one player.

“A great character, working really hard.

“He came on and that’s what I’ve spoken about - our group is that good, in that kind of shape because everyone is working hard in training.

“You know whoever is coming on will be good because we are training on a level, we are pushing each other.

“He came on and was really good.

“He showed his quality that I see every day.

“That was why I was in the box, because I know he is one-v-one really good, and I tried to get ready.”

Gross believes the Seagulls will reflect favourably on their start to the season as they prepare to visit West Ham on Sunday.

He said: “Credit to the Newcastle defence and the keeper, they did a good job, but it felt a little disappointing.

“My feeling was if someone would score, it would be us.

“But the Premier League is ruthless.

“You see then they get one chance and there have been tines when you could also lose those kinds of games.

“That’s the dangerous thing in the Premier League.

“There is one bit of quality maybe and you are even more disappointed.

“It was a point, four points from the first two games.

“It could be six but we move forward.”
