NEW SIGNING Pervis Estupiñán is ready and raring to go for Albion after completing his transfer to the club from Villarreal.

Albion confirmed the deal for the player later on Tuesday night, confirming that he signed a five-year deal with the club.

Estupiñán is thrilled about making a move to the Seagulls, as the opportunity to play in the Premier League is something that he has been dreaming about.

He told MyAlbionTV: "I'm very happy. I'm delighted. This is the league [Premier League] that I have dreamed about. I wanted to come and play in what I believe is the best league in the world so much and above all at Brighton.

"They showed an incredible amount of interest in me, not just now, but for quite a few years. I'm so happy to be here."

The 24-year-old admitted that the interest from Albion convinced him to join the club as well as being impressed as he watched the club last season.

Estupiñán said: "Well, I think it's really to with the interest they showed in me before. I then took a lot of interest in them last year because I like the way they play, and I think that they had a great season.

"That's why I chose Brighton."

Estupiñán was previously contracted to Watford, but never made an appearance for the Hornets due to a variety of reasons.

He said: "I signed for Watford and didn't get the opportunity to play in the Premier League or the Championship.

"Now that I'm here I'm so happy that this day is finally a reality. I just want to give it my absolute best."

During his time at Watford, Estupiñán was loaned out to Spanish sides, Almeria, Mallorca and Osasuna, before he was eventually sold to Villarreal.

The full-back is grateful for the times at the clubs as they helped develop him into the player he is now.

He said: "I'm grateful for them. If you take a big step too soon sometimes, it can be difficult to adapt. I'm happy that it worked out for me, and I was able to learn slowly and take things step by step.

"This really helped me get the experience I needed to carry on growing as a player. Now I'm ready for what's to come."

Estupiñán has also admitted that he learned about the Premier League playing the PlayStation while growing up as a child and idolising former Manchester United full-back Antonio Valencia.

He added: I heard a lot about the Premier League but mainly when I was playing PlayStation. We knew it was a great league.

"We also have a compatriot, the best Ecuadorian player to have played in Europe, Antonio Valencia. We all admired him and wanted to reach the same level as him.

"That is one of my goals. If he managed it, then why can't I achieve the same?

"They say amazing things about the Premier League in Ecuador, and that is where everyone wants to be. Now I have the opportunity."

Estupiñán has joined two Ecuadorian international teammates at Albion in the shape of Moises Caicedo and Jeremy Sarmiento, something that he is looking forward to being a part of.

He said: "This is very important - to be playing for an English team but to have two Ecuadorian teammates. It will help me a lot - I play with them for Ecuador, so I know how they play.

"This will help me to feel good out the pitch on a daily basis."

The defender has ambitions of playing at the World Cup in Qatar later this year, but he is only focusing on Albion at the moment.

He said: "It's very important for us. It is practically a new generation for our national team, and we are so excited. But that moment will come, and we will focus on the World Cup. For now, I am just so happy to be here.

"As I said it's the league of my dreams and it's amazing to be at Brighton. I am so excited to get started and am focused on the upcoming games."

Estupiñán's first game for Albion could come on Sunday in the Premier League as they travel to the London Stadium to take on West Ham United.

The 24-year-old is eager to get started as soon as possible and has made himself available for when manager Graham Potter comes calling.

He said: "I am prepared. I had a good season at my club before. I am ready for whatever the manager says.

"I had the opportunity to meet him (Graham Potter). I thanked him for showing interest in me. I am more or less ready to go."
