Michel Kuipers wants that promotion feeling again.

The long-serving Dutch goalkeeper has gone up three times with Albion but it is four years since Mark McGhee took the Seagulls back into the Championship via the play-offs and Kuipers is getting itchy hands.

He said: "I've had three promotions so far and it is something I want to taste again. I am very eager to get that promotion feeling again, because it is one of the best things in life.

"We talk about it and tell all the players here that if you get promoted it is such a good feeling.

"The season after you are absolutely buzzing, because you are going to be playing against better opposition in more beautiful stadiums and you can test yourself against better players than we are at the moment."

Kuipers will soon overtake Graham Moseley and become the fourth longest serving goalkeeper in Albion's history.

Only Perry Digweed, Brian Powney and Stan Webb will be above him.

Like Digweed, Kuipers' longevity is not matched by the number of appearances he has made.

Injuries and spells out of the team mean he is further down the list in terms of games played.

Kuipers was the regular No. 1 under Micky Adams and then Peter Taylor when Albion were promoted in successive seasons in 2000-2001 and 2001-2002.

Ben Roberts was first choice for McGhee's promotion campaign, when Kuipers had a spell on loan at Hull.

He was also loaned out to Boston when Albion were relegated from the Championship two seasons ago but the 33-year-old, in the absence of genuine competition, is now firmly re-established between the posts.

Kuipers said: "I love this club. Everybody here is like family to me. Aside from my real family they are the people closest to my heart so I am very pleased that I am able to play for the club and that it has gone so well so far.

"I am looking forward to many more years here and hopefully to bring us back up to the Championship because, as far as I am concerned, that is at the least the level we should be at.

"Hopefully with the new stadium coming up we can achieve that, because we have got such a great club and a big fan base. That would be our aim in the short term.

"If it doesn't happen this season then we will have to work extremely hard again next pre-season and hopefully get us up there by the end of next year.

"The personal goals are putting in as many good performances as I can and winning as many games as possible."
