Dean Bowditch has pledged to do more to help Albion's hectic push for the play-offs.

The on-loan Ipswich front man is looking for better performances and goals as he tries to stretch an unbeaten record with the Seagulls in tomorrow's Withdean showdown against Leyton Orient.

Bowditch has yet to taste defeat in four starts for Albion this season and last but he is confident he can improve on his contribution so far in his second loan stint after being substituted against Cheltenham last week.

"I have settled down quite quickly," he said. "I didn't have the best of games against Cheltenham. I was disappointed with that but I know there is more to come and there are goals to come.

"I set my standards high. If I drop below I get disappointed with myself. I am my worst critic and I have a go at myself if I don't do well. I don't need anyone else to tell me.

"I am looking for higher standards and I want to score goals because I am naturally a striker but if I am playing right midfield I am also going to create them."

Bowditch's return has coincided with a run of five home games in which Albion have so far drawn with Tranmere and beaten Cheltenham and Oldham.

He said: "In any club if you win two games on the trot or get seven points out of nine the club is buzzing again.

"It's a good time to do it, with a busy run coming up. We are going into it positively. The buzz in the camp is great. Hopefully we can take that into the games and win as many as we can."

Albion trailed twice in front of the TV cameras but came away with a point from their November trip to Orient.

Boss Dean Wilkins believes a repeat of their second half performance at Brisbane Road and last Saturday's encouraging 1-0 victory over Oldham will set them up for next Tuesday's visit by relegation-threatened Gillingham.

"It's going to be a very difficult one, because Orient have been up and around the top of the League the whole season," said Wilkins.

"We know from the experience of the live game on Sky that in the first half they caused us a lot of problems but our second half performance was terrific. If we can reproduce that sort of form for 90 minutes then I think we are in for a really good day.

"We've had a number of changes. The midfield is completely different to what it was before Christmas and Glenn Murray has come in as well.

"We've had changes through the spine of the side and it sometimes takes a little bit of time for things to settle down again but I thought it was evident against Oldham that the belief is starting to grow again.

"In training this week the players have started to express themselves a little bit more, so we are looking forward to the next two games."

Midfielder Tommy Fraser has recovered from a calf injury and is expected to start in an unchanged line-up, with Jonny Dixon among the substitutes after scoring for the reserves against former club Aldershot on Wednesday.
