Albion could bring in Chelsea midfielder Billy Gilmour before the transfer window closes.

But a hectic deadline day is NOT expected ahead of tomorrow's 11pm deadline.

As of this afternoon, indications were that “not too much at all” would be going on for the Seagulls on the final day of summer trading.

It would be no surprise if there was loan movement out of the club involving younger talent.

Defender Ed Turns could be a candidate to head out after it appeared this week Jan Paul van Hecke would be staying on board.

The club would also be keen to sort the future of out-of-favour Florin Andone.

Gilmour has emerged as a target late in the window although it is likely he has been quietly tracked by the Seagulls for some time.

He was an unused sub for Chelsea as they lost 2-1 at Southampton in midweek.

Head coach Graham Potter has maintained a consistent approach this summer and during previous transfer windows.

Speaking after Tuesday’s 2-1 defeat at Fulham, he said: “We are quite calm.

“I think everyone is doing the same thing which is to keep working until the end of the window.

“But that is ten points from five games and that is the first defeat in 10.

“Even though we are disappointed tonight we have to have a bit of perspective in terms of where the group is at but we have to react at the weekend and my focus will be on helping the guys recover from this and going onto the weekend.”
