He has made his first team debut and captained the reserves.

Now Wes Fogden wants to make sure during the rest of the season that he secures his future with Albion.

The courageous 19-year-old led the reserves to an 8-1 thrashing of an inexperienced Aldershot line-up at Worthing on Wednesday.

Fogden made his comeback from a benign spine tumour against the same opponents ten months ago in a 5-0 win at the Recreation Ground.

Since then he has been on loan to Dorchester and had a taste of first team action at Swansea, Oldham and Cheltenham.

The youth team product, out of contract in the summer, said: "I'm really pleased with what I have done, making my debut and being in and around the first team.

"I am looking to work hard and push on over the next couple of months. I am not sure what is going to happen but I am hopeful. I obviously want to be here next season."

Fogden made his full debut in the first team at right-back in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy exit at Swansea in January.

That is where he started against Aldershot before moving into midfield when Kane Wills was replaced in the second half.

Fogden skippered a side which included hat-trick hero Guy Butters, Kerry Mayo and Gary Hart.

He said: "The first time was when we played Reading behind closed doors and it has just gone on from there. It's good experience.

"I don't particularly see myself as a captain but I work hard. I probably lead by my workrate rather than vocally.

"I just play where ever I am told and I am just enjoying my football. I like to vary it, play in different positions to get experience."
