Albion captain Nicky Forster wants to put a stop to an unusual hoodoo against former club Gillingham on Tuesday after ending a 13-game goal drought.

The much-travelled striker struggles to find the net against ex-employers, a pattern he is eager to alter following his last-minute penalty in Saturday's 1-1 home draw against Leyton Orient.

Forster said: "I am not too sure I have scored against any of my old clubs. Hopefully that is something I can change.

"It's another home game and home advantage does help us. We have played well at Withdean this season so we are confident and we need three points.

"At Priestfield earlier in the season they sat back and didn't give us any time and challenged and competed for every ball.

"It was a tough afternoon and we were done by a sloppy goal, a long ball over the top. It is going to be another tough challenge."

Forster's spot-kick, after Orient midfielder Adam Chambers needlessly handballed, cancelled out Jabo Ibehre's 80th-minute header and edged Albion to within six points of the play-offs with up to three games in hand on teams above them.

The skipper now has 13 goals and he is relieved to be back on the scoresheet again after a famine stretching back to the victory at Swindon in mid-December.

"I've waited a long time," Forster said. "It gets on my nerves more talking about it when I am going through a spell like that. I just want to keep getting on with the next game.

"I still think my performances have been fairly consistent, even though I haven't been scoring, but hopefully that will change the scoring ratio now and we can push on and I can push on.

"It was a good game and there were chances at both ends. We came off thinking that we perhaps could have wrapped it up and been a bit more ruthless in front of goal.

"All of us were guilty of that. We had a few good chances, especially in the first half, and could have gone in 2-0 up."
