Eastbourne Borough lost top spot in Blue Square south and key players for the run-in after a 2-2 draw at home to struggling Weston-super-Mare.

Paul Armstrong and Pat Harding scored in the last 16 minutes as Borough came from behind to lead 2-1.

But Wilfried Domoraud's second goal of the game in stoppage-time earned Weston a point.

More worryingly for Borough, they lost three players through injury in the first half and had both Ben Austin and Andy Atkin sent off in the closing stages.

In addition, Matt Smart finished the game with a knee injury to add to Borough's woes.

Manager Garry Wilson said: "At half-time I thought we were in the game. We finished the half strongly but the stop-starts did not help us.

"We won't go away without a fight for us but it will be hard for us now with all these injuries."

Wilson made two changes from the side that lost 1-0 at Welling on Easter Monday with Scott Ramsay and Matt Crabb coming in for Allan Tait and flu victim Neil Jenkins.

Nathan Crabb (back) and Robbie Kember (knee) were also missing.

The visitors had a new goalkeeper, Kevin Sawyer, who had been signed on an emergency loan from Gloucester City to cover for the suspended Ryan Northmore.

Ramsay's return lasted just a minute as he was caught late by Lewis Powell and, after lengthy treatment for an ankle injury, was replaced by Tait.

The hosts were forced into a second change on 15 minutes when Marc Pullan, who had been doubtful with a thigh injury, limped off to be replaced by Andy Ballard.

What was apparent early on was that Weston, who began the day a point above the relegation zone, were as hungry for points as Borough.

They proved that by taking the lead on 18 minutes when Domoraud got on the end of a long punt forward, shrugged off Ballard and fired first time past Lee Hook.

Domoraud went close to a second goal on 27 minutes with a fierce shot from 20 yards which Hook palmed away.

Borough's dreadful luck with injuries struck again as they lost a third player before half time. Tait was stretchered off with an ankle problem after falling awkwardly which meant a rare opportunity for Adam Wilde.

Having not troubled Sawyer throughout the opening 45 minutes Borough created four chances in first-half stoppage time.

Ballard's goal-bound header was punched away by the Weston keeper and, with the ball still not cleared, Harding's terrific drive cannoned against the head of defender Michael Green amid claims of handball.

Austin was denied by a superb save from Sawyer who tipped over a powerful header from a corner and then Wilde fired over the top moments later.

Whatever Wilson had said to his players at half time was obviously to the point as he was back in the dugout before his players emerged for the second half.

Borough threatened within a minute when Atkin's header rebounded off a post and Harding could not convert the rebound.

Sawyer came to his side's rescue again with a fine save from Armstrong's 52nd minute free-kick and from the resultant corner Austin's header thumped against the crossbar.

Borough's pressure eventually told on 74 minutes when a long ball forward put Weston under pressure and Harding teed up Armstrong for a low shot into the far corner.

Weston suddenly looked leg weary and their defences were breached again five minutes later when Ballard's downward header from Crabb's corner was turned home on the line by Harding.

With four minutes remaining Austin saw red after delaying a free-kick, his second caution, and the visitors took advantage in the second of nine minutes of stoppage time when Domoraud scored his second of the game.

There was still time for Atkin to be given a straight red card for violent conduct following a clash with Ian Herring.
