John Sullivan has vowed to continue his quest to become Albion's first choice goalkeeper.

The young understudy to Michel Kuipers is among 20 players not contracted to the club beyond the end of the season.

But he has no intention of giving up the fight to establish himself with the Seagulls.

Youth team product Sullivan has spent most of the season on the bench and is yet to make his first team debut.

He said: "It's hard knowing you are just a few games away from your contract being up but you just have to get on with it.

"Nobody is really too sure what is going on. All you can do is go out and play and do your best.

"It's just unfortunate for me that Michel hasn't been injured all season and has played every game.

"I am pushing him as much as I can in training. There is a friendly rivalry between us and I am just hoping to make my debut soon for the first team, because I feel I deserve it.

"I'm a Brighton fan and I would like nothing more than to be the first choice keeper."

Sullivan could get his chance before the end of the campaign. Albion have two matches left, at Bristol Rovers on Saturday and at home to champions Swansea, and either or both may become meaningless to the Seagulls' play-off challenge.

A top six finish will be out of reach if Leeds win at Yeovil on Friday night or they fail to beat Rovers.

Sullivan, in action for the Reserves again tonight, said: "I am only 20 and I have got a long career ahead of me so I have just got to be patient.

"If I don't get a first team game before the end of the season and they offer me a new deal then I am going to have to make sure next season that I am either here playing games or on loan at another club, playing regularly to impress the manager."

David Martot, Paul Reid, Sam Rents, Doug Loft and Shane McFaul - also all without deals beyond the end of the season - feature with Sullivan for the Reserves in Wednesday's rearranged game against Wycombe Wanderers at Bognor (7pm).

Adam El-Abd has been offered a new contract but the futures of loan trio Matt Richards, Ian Westlake and Therry Racon, plus Guy Butters, Gary Hart, Kerry Mayo, Adam Hinshelwood, Wes Fogden, Scott Chamberlain, Chris Winterton, Sonny Gobbs, Sam Gargan and Lloyd Skinner are still unclear.

Recurring knee trouble has prevented Hinshelwood reaching appearance criteria guaranteeing him another year.

Boss Dean Wilkins said: "I am conscious players want to find out as soon as possible and that is the next thing we have got to deal with."

Should John Sullivan get a new deal and who else should stay?
