Albion’s best-ever squad have been backed to relish the new challenge of playing for Roberto De Zerbi.

The Italian coach has taken charge of a side flying high in the Premier League.

He has similar principles to predecessor Graham Potter but some differences in terms of tactics and set-up.

His teams tend to score more and concede more than Albion have in recent years under Potter.

But, while possibly starting from a different shape, indications are the players will have to be as tactically flexible as they were under the now Chelsea boss.

Tony Bloom, pictured, rates the current group of players as Albion’s best ever and expects them to relish the changes ahead.

Speaking to the club’s media team, the chairman said: “The players are improving all the time. They work really well together.

“It’s an unbelievable spirit within the camp and they are always willing to learn and improve. I’m very hopeful with Roberto, a new coach, new ideas, a lot of similarities but there will be differences.

“New opportunities for them to thrive so I think it’s a really exciting time for Roberto, for our players and for the club as well.”

A host of Albion players are currently away on international duty.

They include defender Levi Colwill, on loan from Chelsea, who started for England under-21s in their 2-0 friendly win in Italy and went close to a goal when he headed against the woodwork.
