Albion have their first win of the WSL season after delighting their fans at the Amex.

Goals from Guem-min Lee and Katie Robinson secured a 2-1 success over Reading in front of 5,220.

Having wasted chances to be more than one goal ahead, the hosts them found themselves hanging on for a while.

But Robinson’s precise finish gave them just enough breathing space before Reading replied deep into added time.

There was plenty of promise from the Seagulls – and they somehow rode out a very rocky spell in the second half.

They got better as the first half went on.

Elisabeth Terland fired a shot wide after a nice move following a throw-in.

Then came a clear chance as the lively Robinson anticipated a weak back pass by Diane Caldwell and raced clear.

Her shot was parried by Grace Maloney, who then held Lee’s follow-up.

The visitors were extremely carefree with their passing out of defence and Lee wastefully blazed wide when a lapse set her up.

Maloney was out bravely to grab the ball ahead of Terland, both players feeling the effects of the collision and requiring treatment before the Albion player was shown the yellow card.

Poppy Pattinson got herself in a great position, but she failed to get clean contact on her volley.

The breakthrough, though, came in the 40th minute.

Libby Bance did well to create space for Jorja Fox on the right.

Fox’s cross took a deflection and Maloney came out to clear.

But her flap at it the ball pressure from Terland only sent it to Lee, who shot low inside the far post.

Robinson shot straight at the keeper as Albion chased a second before half-time.

They might got that desired breathing space early in the second period.

Veatriki Sarri fired past the top corner and Terland mistimed her header when expertly found in front of goal by another excellent delivery from Fox.

Then the game changed. Reading improved and should have levelled in the 53rd minute.

Megan Walsh parried from Tia Primmer and Natasha Dowie somehow poked the rebound wide of an open goal.

Albion were holding on a bit and Gemma Evans and Deanna Cooper both blazed shots over.

Then Dowie, clean through, saw her effort roll wide via a touch from Walsh when it again seemed she must equalise.

Albion held on to their lead and, in the 80th minute, doubled it.

Julia Zigiotti did well in midfield to set the attacking moving.

Lee made ground, was happy for defenders to converge on her and then teed up Robinson, who shot low across the keeper.

Walsh denied Reading an immediate response with a fine save from Lauren Wade.

The crowning touch for Albion would have been a first goal for Terland, the Norway striker signed in the summer.

Maloney denied her with a reflex save late on.

Reading replied deep into added time with an emphatic finish from Charlie Wellings when a cross was not properly cleared.
