Brad Barry is making a big impression for Eastbourne Borough – on and off the pitch.

The versatile former Albion under-23s and Swindon player has been filling in at centre-back for Danny Bloor’s injury-affected squad.

He helped them win at Concord Rangers on Saturday and could be there again at Dartford tonight.

Barry joined the club earlier this season having trained at Priory Lane in the summer.

Borough boss Bloor said: “He is a player who is absolute class. He had a grounding at Brighton and has played plenty of Football League games.

“What has really impressed me is not just on the field but he is also a great guy off it.

“He has really bought in to what we like to do.

“He has played centre-half for the last two games.

“He had never played there before but he looks like he has done for years.

“You could probably play Brad anywhere except centre-forward.”

Barry took the centre-back role in the absence of Alex Wynter, who has an abdominal problem. Chris Whelpdale (ankle) and Charlie Walker (knee) are also out.
