Roberto de Zerbi says his Albion squad have the right mentality for a tough month.

The Italian boss is preparing his side for the trip to Liverpool on Saturday as he gets down to serious business as head coach.

De Zerbi has been hired partly on the strength of his work across three progressive seasons with Sassuolo.

He masterminded a shock 1-0 win at home to Inter in his first Serie A game in charge of the club.

Albion’s month ahead also includes games against Tottenham, Manchester City and Chelsea.

De Zerbi said: “Somehow you have to play against the top teams.

“Of course, when I looked at the next matches and I saw Liverpool and Tottenham, it’s not easy.

“But I believe a lot in the team. Brighton chose me and I chose Brighton.

“I chose them because of the seriousness of the club and I really like the players.

“When we play Liverpool, Tottenham, Chelsea and the top teams, we have to play our football and not just be on the pitch.

“It doesn’t mean we have to win or draw or lose but it is the mentality with which we play the game.”

De Zerbi also enjoyed a winning start with Shakhtar Donetsk as they picked up the expected three points at home to Ingulets.

Adam Lallana appears to be in the running to face his old club after an injury-enforced absence as Albion go to Anfield.

He posted on social media: “Special game to prepare for this weekend. We’ll be ready.”
