Adam Webster wants to get Albion’s dangermen on the ball as they aim to resume winning ways in the Premier League.

The ball-playing defender recognises he might have to take more risks, albeit calculated, to create space for others as part of head coach Roberto De Zerbi’s gameplan.

But he is confident his poise in possession can help others weave their magic further forward.

The Seagulls are preparing to face a Brentford side hit for five at Newcastle last time out.

They take on the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium on Friday (8pm, Sky Sports).

Webster has already impressed De Zerbi with his willingness to get the ball down and play.

The defender said: “He is going to have his own ideas, which he is getting across to us.

“It is going to take time to pick it up.

“But you can see it coming out already, some really nice patterns.

“It’s just lacking that last, killer pass.

“He wants us to dictate play from the back and it is all about how we react to the pressure which is coming on us to make spaces and get our No.10s on the ball, get the midfielders on the ball.

“We have to take risks but, as long as we are in the right positions, we can get out.”

Playmakers Pascal Gross and Leandro Trossard had almost twice as many touches of the ball in the 1-0 defeat by Tottenham as they did the 3-3 draw at Liverpool.

But Trossard, who scored three and was also denied by Alisson at Anfield, did not get a sniff of goal on Saturday.

Webster will take good signs from the Spurs game and enjoys working with De Zerbi.

He said: “He has been really good so far. He is very passionate, which is good, you want that.

“He gets his message across and the relationship he has already got with all of us is brilliant.”
