James Kirtley has been “invited” to apply for the head coach role at Sussex.
The county are hunting for a coach to take charge in all three formats after parting company with Ian Salisbury.
Kirtley took charge of the Vitality Blast team over the last two seasons.
Doubt was cast over his future when Sussex announced they were going for an all-formats boss with no mention as to where that left their former fast bowler.
There were suggestions he had left the club.
However, The Argus have been told by a club spokesman that he remains “very much still employed” by Sussex.
The Argus have been told: “James has also been invited to apply for the head coach role if he wishes.”
