Albion recruitment chief Paul Winstanley has joined Chelsea.
The two clubs have agreed a seven-figure compensation package.
Albion technical director David Weir commented: "Paul has been an important part of our recruitment and overall progress in his time at the club, and naturally we did not want to see him leave.
"However, we understand that he sees this as an exciting opportunity to move into a more senior position and a different challenge at a new club."
Winstanley joined Albion in 2014 from Derby County and oversaw all elements of Albion's much-lauded recruitment programme.
His new job title at Chelsea is Director of Global Talent and Transfers.
Chelsea have thanked Albion for allowing him to move on.
