Moises Caicedo wants the world to know his name thanks to his feats in Qatar.

But he has revealed the scenes back home which fire him up with Albion and Ecuador.

The midfielder joins fellow Seagulls Jeremy Sarmiento and Pervis Estupinan in the squad for the World Cup in Qatar.

He will be fulfilling a goal he first set for himself while watching the 2014 finals in Brazil on TV.

Caicedo believes Ecuador can be a surprise package and has set the initial target of reaching the knockout stage.

He said: “We are all important players.

“But I want to be a very fundamental part.

“I want people to talk and know my name around the world.

“That’s why I am preparing well, that my name begins to be heard around the whole world.”

Caicedo revealed his first World Cup memories date back eight-and-a-half years.

He said: “We didn’t get out of our group in Brazil.

“But, from that moment, I felt I had to get into the national team and, with work and dedication, I could be in the next World Cup.

“I think I am going to achieve that, if God allows, thanks to lots of work and dedication.

“I was 12. I watched the games out with friends.

“We set up a screen out in the street in my neighbourhood in Santo Domingo and watched the games there.

“I knew then I had to become a professional footballer.

“Now my friends and all my neighbourhood are there watching my games.

“They will be out there during this World Cup, for sure.

“When I’ve played with Brighton and the national team, they have sent me videos of them out there watching in the street on the TV screen they set up.

“That’s really exciting and emotional for me.”

Caicedo is one of several improving players who the Albion star believes will catch the eye He said: "Pervis Estupinan, Gonzalo Plata, Hincapie, a lot of youngsters.

"Jeremy Sarmiento and others I could mention.

"But every player will play his part in the national team."
