Jakub Moder has sent an emotional message of support to the Poland squad as he handles World Cup heartbreak.
The Albion midfielder has been ruled out of the tournament by a knee injury suffered while playing for his club last season.
Poland open their campaign against Mexico this afternoon.
Moder posted on social media: “I have always dreamed of representing Poland at the World Cup and for this dream, even more than usual, I have been fighting for the last seven months.
“Unfortunately, the rehabilitation proved to be more difficult than I thought at first and I have to postpone my dream of playing in the World Cup.
“I wish all the staff the greatest success in Qatar, and I continue to work to be ready for the next matches”
Albion head coach Roberto de Zerbi recently said he did not expect to see Moder back until March.
