Moises Caicedo has been hailed as the biggest surprise of the World Cup - as transfer speculation rumbles on.

The Albion midfielder further enhanced his rapidly growing reputation with his performances in Qatar for Ecuador, including a goal against Senegal.

He has captured attention worldwide, including from another of the game’s rising stars.

Spain and Barcelona attacking midfielder Pedri was asked which player had most surprised him at the World Cup.

He said: “The one I’ve seen who has most surprised me was the one from Ecuador, Moises Caicedo.

“He’s very good, he’s top, I like him a lot.

”Actually, Erik Garcia told me before the World Cup he was going to play very well - and the boss says Erik Garcia could be a coach!”

A combination of impressive World Cup performances, lack of Premier League action and the looming January window will lead to transfer speculation from now through the coming weeks.

Albion fans are used to seeing Caicedo linked with interest from major clubs and there can be no doubt many will have eyes on him.

In fact, the Seagulls beat one of the giants, Mancheter United, to sign Caicedo in the first place.

There is a claim of a £70 million price tag on Caicedo.

While ultimately every player has a price, it would appear unlikely Albion would want to sell Caicedo or would specify a valuation to help any potential suitors
