Mo Dabre has taken an unlikely route to the West Sussex coast.

But the 19-year-old is enjoying himself on loan at Worthing - and certainly being appreciated.

The Italian with West African family heritage has caught the eye during his temporary move from Swindon Town.

He was handed Worthing’s man of the match honours after the most recent home game and accepted it with his customary smile.

But the afternoon ended in frustration for Rebels as they lost 3-1 to a more clinical Chelmsford side having created some great chances.

The boot was on the other foot on Saturday at Havant and Waterlooville.

Both teams had chances but Rebels ran away with it 5-1 as Dabre’s late double added to a Callum Kealy hat-trick.

An elusive dribbler with a low centre of gravity, Dabre hopes to keep adding excitement – and piling up minutes.

He told The Argus: “I’m enjoying it a lot.

“Adam (Hinshelwood, manager) trusts me and gives me good game time.

“The football is physical but it’s good – good experience.”

Dabre came through the youth ranks at Lecco, near Milan, although his family are from Burkina Faso.

He said: “I came to England four years ago because my dad lost his job in Italy.

“It was quite hard for the language at the beginning but I’m getting used to it slowly, slowly.

“I was in Woolwich but my agent found me a place at Swindon.

“Hopefully I have some game time in Swindon and we will see what happens.”

Hinshelwood has secured midfielder Josh Chambers for another month as he shines on loan from Gillingham.

The Worthing boss said: “Josh and both the Mo’s (Dabre and Shubbar, a striker on loan from Crawley) are now with us until the New Year.

"It’s a difficult period we are going into over the next few weeks so it’s good to have them with us.”

Having won at Havant, the next test is even tougher as leaders Ebbsfleet visit in Vanarama National League south tonight.

Hinshelwood said: “They have got games in hand and are top of the league already.

“I’m sure they will want to try and forge a bit of a gap for the first time this season.

“They will come to us full of confidence.

“I’m pretty sure they play similar type of football to ourselves.

“It will be a good tactical game and we hope to build on Saturday’s performance.”

Worthing have been playing good stuff for a few weeks now and will need to ensure there is no hangover just three days after one of their best results in years.

Hinshelwood said: “The difficult thing really is I’m going to see them again just before kick-off.

“I think Ebbsfleet are full-time so they will have been working towards this for a couple of days.

“But I think we’ve got a grounded group of lads.

“They have played football for a long time with us and know we don’t get carried away with one result.

“It’s about the whole season and we want to back up the performance.”
