Leandro Trossard’s Albion future appears to be in serious doubt.

The Belgium international will be left out of the matchday 20 to face Liverpool at the Amex with head coach Roberto De Zerbi disappointed by his recent efforts at training.

Trossard’s agent Josy Comhair has made it clear Trossard is keen to move on and, speaking to Belgian media this afternoon, called on Albion to co-operate in any potential transfer "which is beneficial to both parties".

Comhair has said there was an “altercation between Leandro and another player at training about a trivial matter”.

He also confirmed Trossard had been struggling with a calf injury, as revealed last weekend by De Zerbi.

Trossard was today reported to be heading home for the weekend.

A contractual option in Albion’s favour means the player is committed to the club until the end of next season.

There has been interest from abroad and Tottenham are reported to be following his situation closely.

Links with Newcastle have been dismissed by a well-placed source as "fake news".

Albion will not let their leading Premier League scorer this season go for less than they consider his full value.

If a move does not happen this month, he will be expected to knuckle down and work hard for the rest of the season.

De Zerbi today said he did not know whether Trossard would remain an Albion player beyond January.

He told a press conference: “He has to understand that I only want players who work hard, play for the team 100% and I don’t know the other things about the transfer market, it’s not my problem.

“I am a coach, I am not thinking about the transfer market, or other discussions.

“The only discussion is to play for the team and to work and run on the pitch.”

Comhair said Trossard had not agreed a deal beyond his current commitment to the club and “has also indicated that he is ready for his next step”.
