Albion are facing a selection decision up front after Evan Ferguson made a lively return to action.

The fit-again teenage centre-forward was a handful for Everton defenders as he came back from an ankle injury during Monday’s 5-1 defeat.

He could now be competing for a start away to Arsenal, the team he caused major problems when scoring his first Premier League goal earlier this season coming off the bench.

Danny Welbeck shone against the Gunners at the Emirates in the Carabao Cup earlier this season, forcing and converting the penalty which led to a 3-1 win.

Ferguson started two of the last three games, with Welbeck as sub, before being struck by an ankle injury in the recent win at Chelsea.

Albion were keen not to rush him back and that appears to have paid off.

Jordan Pickford produced three fine saves to deny Ferguson after he replaced Welbeck at half-time on Monday.

The striker might have wanted cleaner contact on the third of those after seeing a powerful header and well-struck shot denied.

He also produced some nice touches in general build-up play.

Albion head coach Roberto De Zerbi was delighted to see Ferguson return and said: “Yes, it is a positive thing. Evan played, I think, well.”

De Zerbi is likely to update on the fitness of Solly March tomorrow after he pulled up with a hamstring problem during the Everton game.
