Teenage goalkeeper Will Tillman was the toast of Worthing as his save secured the Sussex Senior Cup.

The 17-year-old dived low to his left to save from Bognor skipper Harvey Whyte in a penalty shoot-out at the Amex.

Worthing won the final 8-7 on spot kicks following a 0-0 draw over 90 minutes.

Tillman was drafted in at short notice for his senior debut with first choice Harrison Male injured and potential stand-in Alieu Secka cup-tied.

Rebels boss Adam Hinshelwood said: “You could take the story to Hollywood and they wouldn’t believe it.

“It’s unreal. He has been the unsung hero throughout the season.

“He comes home and away with us and is always available to call upon.

“For him to have his moment is a really nice touch for him.

“Not just the penalties. He has come for punches today that I’ve not seen him come for all season.

“I can’t speak highly enough of him. He was phenomenal.”

Bognor were arguably the better side over the 90 minutes and had an immediate advantage in the shoot-out when Matt Rowley saved the opening penalty from Ollie Pearce.

The standard of penalties from both teams was high from that point until Joshua McCormick blazed the tenth over the bar.
