Tom McGill has the full confidence of his Albion boss after joining the matchday 20.

The Canada squad member has been on the bench during Robert Sanchez’s ongoing absence.

Sanchez is not expected to be involved in any of the remaining fixtures.

McGill will be thrown into the spotlight should first choice Jason Steele suffer any injury problems or a red card.

The 23-year-old played age group football for England before accepting a call to the senior Canada squad recently.

De Zerbi said: “He has worked well all the time.

“He deserved the possibility to come on the bench.

“I don’t know if we will need him or not, we will see, but he is a good goalkeeper.”

Asked whether McGill is good with his feet, De Zerbi said: “Yes, we don’t know so well because he has not played yet but he is a good player and I believe in the goalkeeper coaches.
