Albion are ready to put their first continental adventure into motion.

Now they wait to see who makes it into the Europe League alongside them – and who they draw.

The Seagulls are fully UEFA compliant ahead of the 2023-24 season having finished sixth on the pitch and passed all the relevant tests off it.

But the second part of that is nothing new.

The club always prepare for European qualification just in case even if, until now, they have not actually got there.

That is in line with the Premier League Ready message they were putting out almost five years before they actually secured promotion to the elite.

Chief executive and deputy chairman Paul Barber said: “It’s a question of making sure we are fully compliant with all UEFA regulations.

“Every season you apply for a UEFA licence in anticipation of getting into a European competition.

“As normal, we applied for that licence and we got it so are fully compliant already.

“A bit like when we had our programme of being Premier League ready, we are now European competition ready.

“We have our UEFA licence so everything in the ground is ready to go.

“We are having to work out all the logistical requirements, things like planes and hotels.

“But you can’t do much of that until the draw.

“We are now in a holding pattern until the draw is made in Monaco in early September.

“Once that draw is made, you push all the buttons and get yourself ready to travel.”

The club are working on various ticketing strategies but will make a final decision when they see the draw.

Barber said: “I have no doubt demand will be huge.”

Away teams receive 5% of capacity, which could be an issue if Albion are sent to a small but easily accessible destination.

Barber said: “That is where fans who have been incredibly loyal, gone to lots of away games and accumulated a lot of loyalty points will obviously be in the box seat.”

New home and away kits will be unveiled for next season with a popular launch date usually around the time school summer holidays are getting under way.

The awards night for the 2022-23 campaign will be put back until just before next season.

A busy midweek schedule in recent weeks meant the club could not hold the event before the season-closing fixture at Aston Villa.
